HOA Accounting Services, Inc. “HOAAS” was founded in 2003 by Gary Satterfield after many successful years in the corporate world. Gary served on the Board of Directors for his homeowners association which allowed him to discover a need for third party bookkeeping services in the HOA industry. The company started in Walnut Creek at his home, getting the first “official” office in Pittsburg, CA, and then moving to our current headquarters in Concord. The company slowly grew from a team of 1 to a team of 12.
In 2014, Tawny Bartel became a client with Choice Management Solutions. After 14 years in the management industry and 7 years with Choice Management Solutions, Tawny decided to get out of management. Gary provided an opportunity to move over to the accounting side which eventually turned into an opportunity for her to take over the business when he retired at the end of 2021.
The team has expanded from a team of 12 to a team of 23 with locations in Concord and San Diego and team members in multiple states. The need for additional financial control and third party services providing checks and balances for Community Associations has only grown. We look forward to seeing what comes next!
